For the controlled explosive demolition of the hangar (Building 37) located in Corso Marche 43, Turin, GD Test managed the vibrometric monitoring of the event—a critical technical and instrumental safeguard ensuring the full protection of adjacent structures within the area designated for the future Aerospace City (Città dell'Aerospazio).
The demolition using explosive micro-charges, executed by SIAG Srl, required precise measurement of the dynamic effects generated by both the detonation and the subsequent ground impact of the collapsed structure's materials.
To verify compliance with legal thresholds and safeguard surrounding buildings, GD Test implemented a dedicated measurement protocol:
- Environmental background noise measurements: Preliminary monitoring of pre-existing baseline vibrations to establish the site's baseline noise level.
- Instrumentation setup: Deployment of 9 Instantel triaxial vibrometers at critical points across adjacent buildings and structures near the demolition perimeter.
- Waveform acquisition: High-frequency recording of the firing event and structural collapse, accompanied by immediate analysis of induced frequencies and peak particle velocities.
Thanks to the accuracy of the gathered data and the work of the GD Test team, full compliance with the safety thresholds set by applicable standards (UNI 9916 and DIN 4150) was certified, confirming the absence of critical stress on nearby real estate.
